Virtual Cooking Classes

The Cooking Lab's Port Washington kitchen may be closed for now, but our

interactive virtual cooking classes are now in fully swing!


In addition to the online group classes listed below for kids & adults, we're also available for a Private Virtual Class (scroll to the bottom) in your home kitchen. It’s a great family activity, friend get-together or company “outing” for colleagues working apart.   

 

HOW VIRTUAL CLASSES WORK:

  •  Choose a class from the list below.  After registering, you will be sent a registration confirmation via email.  PLEASE NOTE THE CLASS FEE IS PER HOUSEHOLD/SCREEN.

  • At least 5 days prior to class, we will send you a short shopping list and recipe as well as as substitution/modification ideas

  • The day before class, we'll also send you the Zoom link you'll need to sign on to the class.  Prior to the class, please print out the recipes so you can follow along.  

  • Don't feel like cooking along?  No problem!  Feel free to watch, take notes and ask the chef instructor questions so you can prepare the dishes at your leisure.

  • Classes are approximately 90 minutes 

  • For once, we can teach literally anyone in the world (not just locals!), so please feel free to pass along the class info to any friends you'd like to cook with!

  • If you don't have all of the ingredients listed in the shopping list or recipe by the time of your scheduled class, DON'T PANIC & DON'T RUN TO THE STORE!  We'll figure out a way to improvise with what you DO have in your pantry & fridge!

  • Sorry, we cannot offer refunds or issue credits for missed Virtual classes

PRIVATE VIRTUAL COOKING CLASSES

Interested in a Virtual Private Cooking Class with your family, friends or colleagues?  No problem!

 

Classes are 75-90 minutes, taught from our professional kitchen in Port Washington and meant to be interactive (of course, participants are also free to watch, take notes and ask questions).  We send out ingredient lists a week before so you'll have plenty of time to get ready!

 

RATES:

Mon-Thurs:

$250 for up to 6 screens/households 

$25 per screen/household thereafter

Fri, Sat & Sun:

$300 for up to 6 screens/households 

$25 per screen/household thereafter

Special Rate for Kids' Classes on Mon - Fri no later than 4 pm:

$250 for up to 8 screens/households 

$25 per screen/household thereafter

ADULT/FAMILY MENUS:

- Hand-rolled Ricotta Gnocchi with tomato sauce

- Spring Risotto & Zucchini Ricotta Fritters

- Empanadas (dough + 2 fillings - choice of beef / sweet potato & black bean / spinach & tomato)

- Versatile Vegetarian (eggs in purgatory + spring minestrone)

- Brunch (eggs benedict or quiche lorraine with salad)

- French Country Dinner (chicken Basquaise & rice)

- Flavors of Spain (pa amb tomaquet, potato & egg tortilla, shrimp al ajillo)

- Coastal Italian Dinner (Shrimp alla Buzara, creamy polenta, skillet cooked broccoli or string beans

KIDS' MENUS:

Savory Baking Choices: 

 

- Quiche Lorraine

- Empanadas (dough + 1 filling - choice of beef (more advanced) / ham & cheese / black bean & sweet potato)

Dessert Choices:

- Choux a la creme (cream puffs with whipped cream & chocolate sauce - please note that this is a more advanced dish that will likely require adult assistance)

- Summer Fruit Tart

- Super Fudgy Brownies with whipped cream

Satisfying Snack Choices:

- Stuffed Savory Crepes (ham & cheese (or veggies) with creamy bechamel)

- Sweet Crepes with berry sauce, chocolate sauce & whipped cream
